Ancient Olympia

Site planning and conceptual design for new facilities for the village of Platanos. Advising the architects, Decathlon, on the context and significance of the site and the surrounding landscapes and the principal constraints and cultural and natural inspirations for the design.

Contributing design ideas to the integration of the new facilities into the landscape and the creation of a cultural dimension based on the concept of 'the unknown athlete'; a tribute to the millions of Olympic competitors over the years, often from very poor countries, who get neither headline recognition nor financial reward, but who keep the spirit of the Games alive.
